RYAN LEWIS SWITCHES CARS FOR SEASON FINALE

RYAN LEWIS SWITCHES CARS FOR SEASON FINALE

Ryan Lewis is in California this weekend for the final round of the 2008 American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca. After the no.30 Intersport Lola was badly damaged at Petit Le Mans, Ryan will switch over to the no.37 car for this event, joining Jon Field and Richard Berry behind the wheel.

“Clint (Field) was gracious enough to give me his seat for this weekend as the brand new car the team had procured for the remainder of the year was damaged beyond repair at Petit Le Mans,” said Ryan. “Sharing the car with Jon Field this weekend is certainly going to be a little different from the start of the year. He has a reputation in the paddock for being a hard charger, and he has certainly had a good deal more experience in sportscars than me. Jon is always quick, no matter where we are racing, so as long as I can keep up with him we should be looking good. I hope we can finish the year on a high note and that I can maybe pick up a few things from the boss during the last weekend. Laguna is a great place to be finishing the year. I tested Champcar Atlantic there at the beginning of 2007 and I've been itching to go back ever since.”

Ryan joined the American Le Mans Series at Mid-Ohio and he has loved every minute of racing in America. Already his thoughts have turned to 2009 and he wants to stay in the series that has become such a natural home to him.

“Right now I'm looking forward to putting something together for the 2009 season in the American Le Mans Series,” he said. “The series is going from strength-to-strength; it has a huge fan following and it is definitely where I want to be next year. We've had our fair share of ups and downs throughout the year but being on the podium in our first race was a great start and taking the fight to the other prototypes when we could was always a highlight. Obviously losing two cars in big accidents during the year was unfortunate, particularly at Petit where we had made it to the last hour and a half before the crash. For Petit our first goal had been to just finish, knowing that it would be a race of attrition, so it was a real shame not to finish, especially after getting over all our problems early on in the race.”

The four-hour race gets underway at Laguna this Saturday at 2.45pm (local time).
