FROM MOSPORT TO DETROIT

Ryan Lewis has a busy schedule ahead of him over the coming days. His next American Le Mans Series race takes place at Mosport in Canada on Sunday, swiftly followed by the next round back in the States in Detroit on Saturday 30 August.  It's an intense schedule but Ryan is as fit as a fiddle and loving every minute of his new career in sportscar racing.

“The next two races are going to be a new experience for me,” said the Briton. “From what I do know about both circuits I think that Mosport will be more suited to us than Detroit. That extra power compared to the P2 guys really came in handy at Road America so Mosport's similar long straights and faster corners should help us out. Everyone I've asked has been quick to point out Mosport's fearsome reputation so those first couple of laps on Thursday will be a bit more interesting than usual.

“Detroit will be a tougher weekend,” he continued. “We just aren't as nimble as the P2 guys in the slower corners and during changes of direction, so the tighter street circuits don't favour us at all. We are constantly working on closing the gap wherever we can though. Road America was our first weekend on the Kumho rubber after being on Dunlops. Although I think the outright grip isn't quite on the Dunlop's level, the tyre was very consistent over a long distance. Kumho are working with us to develop their tyre and I believe they have some new compounds for us to work with for Mosport.

“Every weekend my first goal is to come out in one piece with a strong finish. I'm always looking first at our sister car as the best gauge of our performance. It's going to be tough to get on the podium at Mosport as we don't have the same power as the no.37 Intersport car, but Detroit could be a different story as the extra power could be more of a problem than a benefit. Either way as long as we keep it on the island we should come away with some more silverware. Mosport is known for its changeable weather so this weekend could be my first run in a prototype in the wet which could certainly make things interesting!”
