British F3 International Series
Rounds 17 and 18 - Nürburgring - 3 September 2005
Ryan Lewis had another tough event to endure this weekend at the Nürburgring in Germany. The young Brit didn't get the results he wanted in qualifying which left him with a lot of work to do at a circuit where overtaking can be tricky.
The start of Race One was a nerve-wracking affair as everyone jostled for position through the first tight turn, but Ryan did a good job and got up from ninth to sixth place. As he pushed hard to make up positions he had a spin and an off and ultimately a coming together with O'Mahony at the end of the race meant he finished down in 14th place, 12th in class but out of the points.
Ryan had qualified in 10th position for Race Two; he was clearly fast enough for the top six but not getting a clear lap on new tyres put paid to a good starting position. He gained a place at the start and eventually finished in eighth position, picking up some Championship points.
All in all it was another difficult weekend for Ryan. “The results just aren't going my way at the moment”, he commented after Race Two. “It's pretty disheartening to have a run of results like this but there's no point in getting down as anything can happen. I've got to go away and focus on the last few races and make sure we get a lift in results before the end of the season.”
The next rounds of the British F3 International Series are at Mondello Park in Ireland in two weeks time.
