British F3 International Series
Preview of Rounds 17 and 18 - Nürburgring - 3 September 2005
Ryan Lewis arrives in Germany this week for Rounds 17 and 18 of the British F3 International Series at the Nürburgring. Best known as the home of the European Grand Prix the Nürburgring is a tricky circuit to master but Ryan has had a head start.
During the long gap in the F3 calendar in July, Ryan took the opportunity to test a Formula Renault car at the German track in preparation for this event. “I know some of the other guys like Charlie (Kimball) and Tim (Bridgman) have also tested at the Nürburgring so we know what we're in for”, commented Ryan. “It's quite a complicated track with a very twisty stop-start layout. I think this weekend could be all about Qualifying as overtaking could be tough.”
Ryan was out testing with T-Sport at Snetterton last week. Heavy rain during the test served as a reminder of the changeable weather at the Nürburgring; one minute hot and sunny, the next driving rain. As he got his best qualifying position of the year in the wet though Ryan is confident about racing in any conditions.
As he is currently lying eighth in the Championship Class, Ryan knows he has a lot of work to do this weekend. “It's vital I get two good points finishes in Germany. The scores are still relatively close so I have everything to gain. I've just got to get my head down and go for it!”
