Ryan Lewis continued his extensive Formula 3 testing campaign with a two day test session at Oulton Park this week. The 19 year-old Formula Palmer Audi Champion, who will contest the 2004 British Formula Scholarship Class with T-Sport, has quickly settled into the team and both Ryan and Team Manager Russell Eacott are delighted with his progress.
“It's a tough learning curve,” said Ryan. “But one which I'm determined to master. The car feels great as soon as I get in it, and I feel confident straight away, which is a good indication of how things will progress this season. I'm really enjoying working with the team too, they will help me a lot, but at the end of the day it's down to me to do a good job and drive the car the best I can. The first day at Oulton was spent mainly getting to grips with the car and the track, getting progressively quicker and quicker.”
The second day unfortunately ended early, after he was caught out on cold tyres in the damp and slippery conditions but the teenager remains optimistic and in buoyant mood for the seasons start in April. “It was a simple mistake of going too quickly on cold tyres. The sort of mistake I could have got away with in FPA but in F3 it's another matter. Still I will learn from this which is what it's all about and I can't wait for the first race at Donington on April."
Ryan will resume his testing next week at Snetterton circuit before heading to Silverstone on Friday.
