Ryan Lewis recovered from a spin in a rain-soaked ninth round of the Visma Software Formula Palmer Audi Championship at Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium today, to take a fighting 14th but held on to his series lead. The nineteen year-old had started from pole position and at the lights maintained the form that had seen him “on a roll” throughout the weekend. For the first three laps Ryan held 1-2 formation with his Team Lewis team-mate Niki Faulkner in second, but three laps in the treacherous weather conditions caught the youngster out, sending him spinning off the track at the notorious Eau Rouge corner and handing the race lead to his team-mate.
With no damage to his car, Ryan rejoined the track but with it all to do over the remaining laps. He fought his way through, passing several cars before the chequered flag signaled the end of the race, Ryan claiming the fastest lap on the way.
Ryan holds a four-point lead over Adam Smith with tomorrows round 10 taking place at 09.30 local time.
