Just 14 points stand in the way of Ryan Lewis and the 2004 Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship and Bank Holiday Monday's Rounds 19 and 20 at Thruxton could see him lift the crown. The 20 year-old from Royston already has 12 wins under his belt and currently holds a 112 point lead over Stephen Jelley but with six rounds still remaining, there's a potential 126 points up for grabs.
The reigning FPA Champion knows that victory or second place in the first of two races next Monday (August 30th) would be enough to clinch the title but the fast, sweeping Hampshire track is unknown to him and first he has to master that.
“I've never raced at Thruxton before but everyone says that it's fairly simple - flat most of the way round and I'm pretty good at staying flat so that shouldn't be too hard! Of course there are a few tricky bits; I had a quick look at the track a few weeks ago with Warren Hughes. I'm looking forward to it and next weekend should be interesting to say the least.”
Next Sunday (August 29th) will see Ryan and the rest of the series regulars fight it out in qualifying at 12.50 and 15.30 for the best grid positions for the two 16-lap races which take place on Monday at 11.20 and 14.30.
