Ryan Lewis was prevented from trying for his fourth successive victory in the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship at Silverstone today, after the meeting was abandoned due to torrential rain. The 19 year-old from Royston was made to work hard for his victory in the first 18 lap race, held on a wet track, after dropping two places at the start, but he fought his way through to take a well deserved win on his debut race on the International circuit.
During the interval between the two races, the rain turned to a downpour and the organisers took the decision to abandon the meeting on safety grounds. A decision as to a potential replacement date and venue will be decided upon soon, which may take place after the next scheduled rounds at Croft, near Darlington in two weeks time (1/2 May).
