Ryan Lewis delighted with two debut poles

Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship
Donington Park - 3 April 2004

Formula 3 Scholarship contender Ryan Lewis fulfilled his pre-season promise to lead from the start when he set pole position for both races to be held at Donington Park tomorrow. The 19 year-old, making his Formula 3 debut in the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship class dominated both sessions and was delighted with his performance in his BES T-Sport Dallara Mugen-Honda.

The reigning FPA Champion from Royston, Hertfordshire had been a regular pace-setter in pre-season testing and had declared himself ready to start the season with two poles, following his test at the Leicestershire track earlier this week. “I'm really pleased with two poles; it's exactly the way I wanted to start the season, now I have to finish it with two wins tomorrow. The critical thing will be getting a good start as overtaking in F3 and particularly at Donington is very difficult but I'm happy with my starts so I'll just have to get my head down and make no mistakes. I'm looking forward to it!”

T-Sport Team Manager was enthusiastic in his praise of Ryan's performance, “We're obviously delighted. We always knew he had the potential, we just didn't expect it to be at his first ever race! He was every bit the racing driver today, he knew exactly what he had to do and he just went out and did out. To have two poles first time out is absolutely perfect and if he can convert that into two race wins tomorrow we'll be delighted.”

Tomorrow's opening rounds of the series will take place at 10.45 and 14.55.
