Ryan Lewis, leader of the Visma Software Formula Palmer Audi Championship, will test a Formula 3 car for the first time tomorrow (3 September), when he joins Malaysian Team SYR for an official F3 test session on the Donington Park National circuit. The 19 year-old, from Royston, will then make his F3 racing debut driving a Dallara 303 Opel Spiess alongside Malaysian Rizal Ramli and Japan's Masato Shimoyama for this weekend's Rounds 21 and 22 at the Leicestershire track.
“I'm really looking forward to driving an F3 car for the first time,†said Ryan, who recently swapped his Audi power for Renault when he raced in the Formula Renault UK Championship. “It's always good to have experience of driving other cars, it keeps me in the driving seat, and I'm sure it will help me in the long run.â€
Team SYR, based in Watford, has run three cars for most of the 2003 season, with the team's best result being fifth at Donington's opening rounds. This weekend, Ryan will use the car vacated by Katherine Legge who is still out of action following an accident at Rockingham.
