Ryan narrowly missed out on victory in the third round of the Visma Software Formula Palmer Audi Championship at Snetterton today, leading for much of the race, until an incident deployed the safety car, effectively ending Ryan’s victory bid.
“It’s a bit frustrating obviously because in the first part, before the safety car incident, I got held up a bit by a backmarker at Riches and I had to go round the outside which lost me all the time I’d built up between me and Adam. Then of course the safety car situation arose, and we had hold station for four laps, with me second. After the car went in we only had one full green flag lap but I managed to get round the outside of Adam, I got the jump on him round Riches and held it all the way down to the complex, the Esses and back straight but then I ran a little bit wide and he managed to sneak up the inside of me and I just had to give him the room. Then obviously round there, when you're behind somewhere through Coram its very hard to get back again as you lose aerodynamics. The start was really bad, I’m really going to have sort these starts out, I’m not at all happy with them I either have loads of wheelspin or I get bogged down too much."
"Adam ran wide at Esses and both me and Steve went through inside at the Esses then he slotted ion behind us and then I was behind Steve for a lap and got right up behind him on the pits straight and passed him and managed to pull away a bit of gap. Then I could see Adam was hassling Steve so I was straight on the boost, lap after lap, to try and build the gap, then I got held up again and he closed and passed me I think if I hadn’t made that mistake at the Esses it would have been my race.”
