Lewis heads to Silverstone in confident mood

Nineteen year-old Ryan Lewis heads to Silverstone this weekend (17/18 April) aiming for another double victory in the Avon Tyres British Formula 3 Scholarship. The BES Plc-backed driver from Royston tasted the victors champagne twice in the opening rounds at Donington Park two weeks ago and is now determined to repeat that success, which was backed up by two pole positions and fastest laps.

Driving a T-Sport Dallara Mugen-Honda the teenager, who celebrates his 20th birthday next week, had a successful test utilising part of the Northamptonshire track several weeks ago but this Friday's morning session will be his first experience of the full International circuit. “Of course I'm a little apprehensive about the weekend as it'll be the first time I've raced on the International circuit and I've never even seen the track before,” said Ryan.

“During the test session last month though I managed to get to grips with some of the corners we'll use this weekend and providing Friday's test goes well too, I'll be looking forward to another good weekend. I feel confident of a good result; the Silverstone track is really quick and if it stays dry should be good.”

Ryan's main opposition this weekend looks likely to come from Barton Mawer and Stephen Jelley, who took a second apiece at Donington to trail him in the points standings. Ryan's performance at Donington though when he ran as high as 8th overall, shows he's more than capable of running with the Championship class contenders and on the ultra-quick Silverstone track next Sunday, will be aiming for a strong overall finish as well as double victory.
